After a few initial hick-ups with the modeling of the peacock we are back on track of making a visual master piece. As in one of blog articles we are learning as we going on. We made a mistake of not checking regular progress and pretty soon the model was so far from what the original design. We were already making plans to rewrite out storyboard and animatic to now consider having just the turkey for the preview project. There was a general perception in the team we might not be able to make it and we made some contingency plans for the peacock not being part of the preview. Filipe requested 2 days to see what he can do to fix the model. Not very sure, about what Filipe could do as it was already 21st and we had with less than 2 weeks to siggraph, we gave him a chance. Paula volunteered to create the peacock turn-around to help Filipe do the peacock, which she did the very next day.
Filipe is amazing with what he did with the peacock in 2 days. From paper to a 3-d model fully textured. This guy is brilliant in adversity. Here are the results.
The above one is the 2nd model that Filipe gave us based on suggestions from Eduardo on colors.
There are just a few minor tweaks in the model, which we plan to either fix it in the preview if we have the time or leave for the actual short. One of them is the peacock’s eye needs to be an “0” shaped and he looks angry (which fits with the look in the preview).
